As part of its commitment to give back to the communities it operates in, GE (NYSE: GE) in the UAE, partnered with the Ro’yati initiative, held under the Sheikh Zayed Giving Initiative, to reach out to those less-privileged during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
More than 50 volunteers from GE assisted by shopping for items, sorting them, and having them delivered to Al Qusais, where they distributed food to over 200 less fortunate families and workers.
GE raised over AED 30,000 towards the Ro’yati initiative, which is a unique component of the Zayed Giving Initiative, a model for humanitarian work at a local and international level. Established on the founding principles of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the ‘Father of the Nation,’ the initiative has been further pursued by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
GE Volunteers have undertaken a number of projects world-wide, and are actively involved in supporting community activities, aimed at strengthening awareness in the Middle East. GE coordinates volunteer efforts company-wide by keeping a close eye on societal needs and inviting all employees to build stronger communities where the company serves in. GE’s employees volunteer over one million hours of community service every year.
