FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, has launched its Extra Large Pak (XL Pak) in the UAE. As the latest addition to the existing suite of packaging solutions, it allows larger items to be shipped at FedEx International Priority Pak rates.
“With the increasing demand for a wide range of packaging and shipping options, FedEx is constantly striving to develop innovative and viable solutions that fulfill the needs of our customers,” said David Ross, senior vice-president of FedEx Express Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa operations. “The FedEx XL Pak can be used for both document and non-document shipments across all industries including textiles, apparel and e-commerce. It is a great option for those who are looking for a cost- effective yet environmentally responsible shipping solution that is flexible enough to be used by an individual, SME or a large corporation.”
Popularity of e-commerce is not only gaining traction in the banking and travel sectors, but it is also seeing a rise in retail sector. An IPSOS study found that in 2013, apparel was among the top three products purchased online across the Middle East.
FedEx provides online shopping portals access to regional and global markets. Customers can choose from a wide range of shipping solutions that can be delivered both domestically and internationally within one to three business days.
As the most recent shipping solution, the new FedEx XL Pak is 90% larger than the FedEx Large Pak, and can ship items up to 2.5 kg. Made of recyclable polyethylene and containing a minimum of 15% post-industrial recycled content, the package is also water-resistant. The innovative package design makes it ideal for soft, light or bulky shipments. The XL Pak is the latest effort by the company to minimize the environmental impact of packaging wherever possible while encouraging customers to use materials efficiently.
