Liberty Group Chairman Sheikh Khalid Abdul Aziz Al Qasimi has appointed Koji Yabuguchi, a veteran with 25 years of experience with various departments of Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Japan, to head the Kawasaki division as General Manager.
This comes at a time when sales of Kawasaki motorbikes quads, utility vehicles and jet-skis in the UAE doubled in the first four months of 2014 compared to the corresponding period last year, driven by robust demand for high-performance motorbikes as lifestyle products.
“It is a great time to be in the UAE and take charge of driving the growth of the Kawasaki business,” said Yabuguchi. “There are a growing number of bike enthusiasts who are switching to motor-cycles because of the freedom, mobility and spirit of adventure they offer. I am delighted to head the Kawasaki division of Liberty Automobiles and oversee a definite turnaround in Kawasaki sales in the UAE.”
Liberty Automobiles, the exclusive UAE dealer for Kawasaki, has also witnessed higher demand for Kawasaki Cruisers and Touring bikes as a lifestyle trend, thanks to the well maintained highways and emergence of many natural and man-made leisure spots in UAE.
“The perception that motorbikes are not suitable for the Gulf climate has changed dramatically over the years,” added Yabuguchi. “We expect this trend to pick up further acceleration, as motorbikes become lifestyle symbols. Our top customer segments include Emiratis, entrepreneurs and upwardly mobile professionals.”
Yabuguchi said that Kawasaki bikes have also attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies. Test rides and technical inspections on the Kawasaki Concours-1400 fully-modified Police Bikes have been carried out by some law enforcement agencies in the UAE for potential deployment in their fleet.
Liberty Kawasaki has its flagship showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road as well as showrooms in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Sharjah, offering customers the best options in world-class motorcycles, quads, jetskis and accessories.
