In a major endorsement of its Corporate Social Responsibility [CSR] initiatives, Securitas UAE – the global knowledge leader in security services, has been honoured by the UAE Ministry of Labour for its efforts and welfare programs involving the labour community in the UAE.
As part of this, Securitas was also conferred a Certificate of Appreciation from the Ministry for its various initiatives to engage its employees as well as the labour community through a wide array of sporting and social events.
The appreciation is part of the wide-ranging efforts by the Ministry to encourage corporates to strengthen the labour rights protection, coinciding with the International Labour Day celebrations. A total of 31 organizations were felicitated on the occasion, and Securitas was among the few private companies to be honoured.
Rupa Santha, HR Director at Securitas, received the Certificate of Appreciation from Mubarak Saeed Al Dhaheri, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, recently.
Gaetan Desclee, Country President of Securitas UAE, said: “As a company, Securitas believes in building relationships on mutual respect and the dignity of our employees – our most important asset. Securing the rights and welfare of our employees is a fundamental value that we believe in. Integral to this, we also strive to do our best for the labourers in the UAE and we are extremely privileged to recognized and honoured by the UAE Ministry of Labour for our efforts.”
He added: “Our long-term strategy to improve our employees’ welfare will increase our capabilities to provide better and better services to the community. Securitas UAE has always shown a strong commitment aimed at making a positive contribution to the society and engaging the labour community in our initiatives.”
The Ministry of Labour appreciation also lauded the company’s efforts in organizing the hugely-successful Labour Football League and Cricket Tournament at the Nuzul Camp in Jebel Ali in October-November 2013. The tournaments, which were held free of cost, involved a total of 32 teams from labour camps across the UAE. The tournaments were integral to Securitas’ strategy aimed at improving the lives of labour community.
“Our efforts are not limited only with the initiatives such as the Cricket and Football tournaments. We ensure that we offer close access to our staff from their place of work to avoid long commute and accidents similar to one recently where many labourers lost their lives. Secondly, we ensure that our drivers are properly trained in handling the logistics and travel for our employees. Overall, we offer an all-encompassing work and life balance and environment to our employees,” added Mr Desclee.
Overall, the company provides the best of recreation and lifestyle to all its employees, which includes amenities such as gymnasiums and internet connection, among others. Securitas also organizes continuous training sessions to upgrade the skill sets of its employees and the HR Department monitors the daily operations in the camps.
“Our efforts are centered on building the human capital in Securitas UAE and we are committed to organize regular training programs and growth for our employees. We also organize entertainment and social events to keep up the camaraderie and general spirit among our workforce,” added Mr Desclee.
The company also hosts and sponsors a number of activities and initiatives aimed at contributing positively to the community where it operates.
