Fatima Al Jaber, Chief Operating Officer of Al Jaber Group and Executive Director of the company’s board, was named “Businesswoman of the Year” at the Arabian Business Achievement Awards 2008 that were held in Dubai last night.
The Arabian Business Achievement Awards, organised by ITP Publishing Group, have become one of the most prestigious business awards in the region. The annual event celebrates the very best in business achievement, both at a corporate and individual level. Winners are selected by a jury comprising senior business leaders from the region.
“I am very pleased and honoured to receive this commendation and would like to dedicate this award to all the employees of the Al Jaber Group” said Al Jaber.
Al Jaber has won a number of awards and commendations in her career. In 2007, she was voted the 7th most influential woman in the Arab world by Forbes Arabia. In 2008, she was named one of the most influential businesswomen in the region by MEED (Middle Eastern Economic Digest) Magazine. She is also the first female representative on the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) and Deputy Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen’s Council. Al Jaber is also the Chairman of Al Bashayer Investment Company.
A staunch advocate of women’s causes, she is actively involved in empowering Emirati women in the business arena. She has appeared as a keynote speaker at various conferences themed on women in business.
Al Jaber has more than 20 years experience in various capacities within the Abu Dhabi Government and is also currently the General Manager of Qaryat Al Beri Resort Development Company L.L.C, a joint venture between the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) and the Al Jaber Group. The company is responsible for the Qaryat Al Beri Development.
Al Jaber’s holds a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from UAE University in Al Ain.
