Furthermore, Lieutenant Colonel Al Ameri indicated that the department’s participation last year included raising awareness of housewives in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. “During this edition of the ‘Iftar Meals’ Project, the Emergency and Public Safety Department will implement an integrated awareness-raising program at the countrywide level. The project will include 121 housewives in Abu Dhabi; 84 housewives in Al Ain; 56 housewives in the Western Region; 83 housewives in Dubai; 46 in Ajman; 48 in Sharjah; 10 housewives in KhorFakkan and Kalba; 23 housewives in Umm Al Quwain; 58 in Ras al Khaimah and 65 in Fujairah,” he said.

For her part, Dr. Karima Ibrahim Rafaf, from the Emergency and Public Safety Department and supervisor of the team in charge of training housewives, said that learning the basics of first aid has become an urgent necessity because of the rapid evolution of life, the cultural progress and the widespread development of technology. “All individuals are prone to injuries and accidents at all times and places; this requires quick response and rapid intervention in order to save lives, relieve symptoms or prevent complications and disability,” she noted. She also explained that the team supervising the training operation for housewives as part of the “Iftar Meals” Project, has received an enormous response from participants and showed a high level of first aid culture.

It is worth mentioning that the project was announced at a press conference held on Tuesday evening at the DusitThani Abu Dhabi, in the presence of representatives of co-sponsors of the “Iftar Meals” project. This project aims to enhance the capacity of Emirati families and allow them to expand their work into permanent projects; as well as to create new projects to increase Emirati families’ income and attract new partners to promote the community cohesion initiative.
