Under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior the 17thPolice Pentathlon Championship concludes tomorrow. It is noteworthy that the Championship is organized by the Police Sports Federation at the Disabled Club in Al Ain, the Equestrian,Shooting and Gulf Club in Al Ain and Muawiyah School in Al Ain.
Lieutenant Colonel Aref Ali Al Rais, Chief of the Sports Activities Section at the Police Sports Federation Departmentnoted that the Championship includes long jump, shot put and swimming. “The running competition for 3000 meter will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, with the participation of 5 Police teams: Abu Dhabi Police, Dubai Police, Al Fujairah Police, the Directorate General of Civil Defense, and the Directorate General of Special Security Forces,”added Al Rais. Moreover, he pointed out that the Police Pentathlon Championship is a major event on the calendar of the Federation's championships schedule, for its important role in supporting national and police teams in the various tournaments held as part of the sports competition events.
He also noted that the Police Sports Federation, in pursuance of the police leadership’s directions, constantly seeks to develop sports games and championships in line with the desired sports-related goals.
Adding further, he emphasized that police sports championships are witnessing a significant development on all levels. He said that the Police Sports Federation keenly strives to ensure the success of such championships, which put under the spotlight top-achieving players and teams that help developing sports in the country. In conclusion, he expressed his hope that the 17thPolice Pentathlon Championship will constitute an outstanding addition to police competition in the run-up to the General Excellence Shield for the current sports season.
