The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) confirmed its full support for the second annual ‘United Arab Emirates Undergraduate Student Research Competition’ (UGSRC). Held under the patronage of H.E. “The ICT sector is witnessing remarkable growth in the modern era and much of this progressive trend is the direct result of research and development initiatives. We fully recognize the significance of R&D and the critical role it plays in achieving the UAE’s ambitious national targets,” said H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General.
“We also recognize the need to both support and encourage Emirati students to excel at university and supply their innovative contribution to the R&D sector and ultimately, the formation of a true knowledge based economy,” he added.
The theme of UGSRC 2014 is ‘Step Up Shabab’ and the competition research areas this year include ‘Arts and Sciences’, ‘Mathematics’; ‘Media’; ‘Public Relations’; ‘Psychology’; ‘Sociology’; ‘Statistics’ and ‘Engineering’. With a focus on Emirati youth, UGSRC 2014 aims to foster a culture of innovation and creativity among UAE students as well as providing them with the necessary support to effectively contribute to the UAE’s state-of-the-art scientific research sector.
