The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) will once more be the official sponsor of the UAE Forum on Information and Communication Technology Research 2014 (ICTRF2014) having sponsored the event every year since its inception in 2006. The theme of this year’s forum is “Big Data: Opportunities & Challenges” which includes a number of sessions such as ‘Big Data and Smart Government’, ‘Big Data and Smart Health’ and ‘Big Data and Smart Grid’. The event will take place in Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi on May 11th - 13th, 2014.
“The TRA assigns a great deal of value to ICTRF 2014 and in particular its mission to enhance the UAE’s reputation as a true industry leader in the field of ICT research,” said H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director General. “We have long admired this innovative forum and have sponsored the event for the past eight years. With a focus on collaboration and the exchange expertise among the nation’s researchers and practitioners in the ICT sector, supporting this event has long been a priority for the TRA’s CSR program and will continue to be long into the future,” he added.
ICTRF 2014 is organized by Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR), and co-organized by EBTIC (ETISALAT-BT Innovation Centre) and ANKABUT (Emirates Advanced Network for Research and Education). The TRA sponsors this year’s event is in partnership with Etisalat, Abu Dhabi Educational Council (ADEC), the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) and The Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET).
Open to academics, researchers and industry professionals, this year’s forum will be extended to two more days compared to the year before as the agenda now includes tutorials on ‘Big Data Technology and Analytics’ on May 12, 2014 and graduate presentations of ICT research papers on May 13, 2014.
