The Ain Al Fayda Festival, launched in March/April this year at the Al Al Fayda Resort in Abu Dhabi’s Oasis City of Al Ain, will now become an annual event.
Organisers ‘OnetoOne Hotels & Resorts, Phoenix Tourism & Desert Safaris and Al Qudra Holdings, say the festival, which incorporates the annual Al Ain Classic Car & Bike Show, is playing a role in revitalising the city’s historic Ain Al Fayda district.
“We plan to stage the festival every March/April to coincide with school holidays following this year’s inaugural event which won significant support of a number of government sectors and private institutions,” said Philippe Harb , Chief Operating Officer, OnetoOne Hotels & Resorts.
This year’s festival, held in the gardens of Ain Al Fayda, coincided with the opening, at OnetoOne Ain Al Fayda of its Sheikh Zayed Images Museum, which will be a permanent exhibition at the Oasis City resort.
“The classic cars on display at the festival date back to the 1950s and include a few which were the personal property of the late UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al Nahyan,” explained Harb.
“Other activities included a children’s playground with a mini train and zoo, swings, paint balling, drawing competitions and many other activities. Arabic tents dotted the scene from where local people sold heritage and traditional products. Competitions included a lost treasure contest, a classic car quiz and surveys and lectures on traditional medicine. All fit in with Al Ain’s positioning as a family and heritage destination and enlivened an area which was the original focal point of tourism in the Oasis City.
“We are now looking to build on this success and create an yearly carnival event which will by UAE residents and visitors alike.”
Meanwhile, OnetoOne Ain Al Fayda has welcomed the newly-launched OnetoOne Spa brand. Occupying the resort’s top floor, the spa offers a range of therapies in eight treatment rooms, including two cold and hot Jacuzzis, two private Moroccan baths and two separate salons for male and female guests.
“Many of the therapies offering are locally-inspired,” explained Harb.
Also in Al Ain, the resort has invested in a permanent mini zoo, has fully renovated its family garden, offers pony rides, football, basketball and tennis courts, ATV bikes and water sports.
The OnetoOne Hotel and Resort Ain Al Fayda overlooks Al Ain’s towering Jebel Hafeet heights and is a 90 minute drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport and an 80-minute drive from Dubai International Airport.
Meanwhile, at its city centre property in Abu Dhabi The Village OnetoOne the company has opened a dynamic restaurant ‘18 Oz American Bistro’.
“This is a unique restaurant concept in Abu Dhabi featuring a bistro dining experience in a designed and sleek environment under the legendary thematic American culture,” said Harb. “The Bistro concept is presented through the decor, chalkboard artwork, food and music providing an overall ‘feel’ of where French street bistros meets American culture.”
Also new to The Village is Paparazzi a karaoke-themed concept outlet serving Filipine cuisine with a Sushi Bar. “It’s a fun and friendly environment with a wall of fame where people, can take photos of themselves and share them with their friends.”
