Challenge Accepted! JA Resorts & Hotels Celebrates The Incredible Success Of Raising Over 14,000 For Charity At Arabian Travel Market 2014
(8 May 2014)

It was an exciting close to the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), as three senior managers of JA Resorts & Hotels shaved their heads as part of a fundraising campaign to reach £10,000 by the close of the region’s premier travel and market exhibition. The funds that were raised for the All As One UK Charity will support an orphanage in Sierra Leone, which has been part of JA Resorts & Hotels’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme for the last five years.

Chief Executive Office, David Thomson, along with Fredrik Reinisch, Regional General Manager of UAE and Seychelles, and Otto Kurzendorfer, General Manager at JA Ocean View Hotel, followed through with their pledge and shaved their heads during ATM at the JA Resorts & Hotels’ stand, as a crowd of spectators looked on.

“As the funds started pouring in I knew I had to live up to the challenge and deliver my promise to All As One and the children who will directly benefit from the fundraiser. Besides, if a head shave can deliver so much good, I doubt anyone would hesitate,” said Thomson. “We’ve had a strong relationship with the orphanage and the children for many years, and this is the time they needed us the most.”

JA Resorts & Hotels had promised to carry out this challenge on one condition, that they successfully raise £10,000 for the charity. JA Resorts & Hotels has a long-term commitment to the All As One orphanage, and the senior management team were more than eager to show their personal support as well.

“We are thrilled and overwhelmed by the support from JA Resorts & Hotels. We've been watching the amount raised by David, Fredrik and Otto increase day by day and we are so very grateful to them for undertaking this challenge. Never have three haircuts been so appreciated. Their determination is amazing and contagious, thank you,” said Ettaline Hill, All As One’s UK representative.

The global campaign succeeded at generating over £14,000 from all over the world, as guests, travel trade companies and individuals poured money into the Virgin Money Giving site set up by All As One UK to raise money for the orphanage.

JA Resorts & Hotels, who have been a strong support for the orphanage, have not only raised money to keep the medical facilities and school running, but also help in providing a stable environment for the abandoned and orphaned children.
