The Abu Dhabi Awards Organising Committee has published the final nomination figures for this year’s Abu Dhabi Awards campaign, revealing that 42,536 nominations were received during the one-month nomination period.
An analysis of these nominations has found that more than 10,000 separate individuals have been nominated for an Abu Dhabi Award in 2008, on the basis of deeds, community spirit or generous actions.
Nominations have been received from all three regions of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including Abu Dhabi City (84%), Al Ain and Al Gharbia.
Organisers also noted a particular spike in nominations occurred over the Eid holiday, when nominations increased by over 70 percent, and believe this reflects the strong sense of community spirit that characterizes this period.
