In Dubai at the Arabian Travel Market today, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, publicly showcased the latest developments in air travel with its new innovative, premium cabins aboard the airline’s Airbus A380 and Boeing B787 Dreamliner aircraft.
While each of ground-breaking new cabins were on display at Etihad Airways’ striking stand, The Residence by Etihad, with its three-room private cabin, offering a living room, double bedroom and ensuite shower room, proved to be the centre of interest.
The stand opened just hours after Etihad Airways was named as the Middle East’s Leading Airline for the eighth consecutive year at the World Travel Awards Middle East. Etihad Airways was also named the Middle East’s Leading Airline – First Class and the Middle East’s Leading Cabin Crew.
At a separate ceremony for the 2014 Business Traveller Middle East Awards, also held last night, Etihad Airways took home the titles for the Airline with the Best Economy Class and Airline with the Best Frequent Flyer Program.
Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive Officer, James Hogan, said: “The new living spaces on display at the Arabian Travel Market today redefine inflight product and services to a new standard in commercial aviation.
“We are delivering the most advanced airline cabins in the industry, with unparalleled quality and style, and importantly at competitive prices across all three cabins.
“Etihad Airways’ World Travel Awards and Business Traveller Awards once again reflect the airline’s commitment to be the best. In every part of the business, our team continues to achieve excellence through innovation and determination,” Mr Hogan said.
The Residence by Etihad is located in the forward upper deck of the A380, accommodating one or two people and comes with a dedicated and professionally trained personal butler.
The A380 also features revolutionary First Apartments, which are fully private suites with a separate reclining lounge seat and full length bed, as well as chilled mini-bar, personal vanity unit and wardrobe.
The First Suite on the Etihad Airways B787 offers guests an enhanced suite with chilled mini-bar, complete privacy and centre seats, which can be joined to create a double bed.
The Business Studios, which are arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, the airline’s first dovetail (forward and aft) layout, allow optimal use of cabin space. The suite has a 22 inch wide seat and separate ottoman, which together create a fully-flat bed of up to 80.5 inches long.
The Economy Smart Seat will feature on both the A380 and the B787 offering a unique ergonomic fixed-wing headrest, giving guests a place to rest their head for added comfort and relaxation. It has a lumbar support feature and an 11 inch personal monitor screen, with all the IFE peripherals conveniently set into the seatback in front.
