The Ministry of Finance (MoF), represented by the Department of Coordination of Fiscal Policies, has presented the UAE’s experience on implementing the GFS Reports system’s Emirates Gate. The presentation was held during the Ministry’s participation at the Government Finance Statistics (GFS) training session at the Economic Policy Institute in Abu Dhabi and was organised by the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), in collaboration with International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The training session witnessed a large participation from MoF’s and other financial departments’ staff across the UAE in addition to the participation of 36 GFS systems specialists from 14 Arab countries. Participants were given the opportunity to closely observe the UAE’s version of Emirates Gate, which is based on the specialised guide issued by the IMF.
The Ministry initiated its presentation by identifying the different implementation stages in the UAE; starting from its establishment in 2008 for the Department of Coordination of Government Fiscal Policies, equipping the department to be the relevant entity to collect and prepare reports at a state level.
Commenting on the Ministry’s participation in the training course, HE Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, Assistant Undersecretary of Resources and Budget Sector at MoF stressed on the Ministry’s commitment to apply the latest government financial systems in the UAE and its determination to continue working alongside various local, regional and international partners to exchange experience and identify leading expertise in areas such as joint work.
HE added: “The Emirates Gate of GFS reports offers differentiated and innovative solutions at the Federal Government level and at UAE federal government entities, whereby it ensures the accurate collection and analysis of government financial data allowing several entities to be fully informed, as well as introducing specialists to a wealth of economic indicators beneficial to the UAE.”
The presentation also covered the objectives and benefits of the launch of the Emirates Gate of GFS reports prepared by the internal staff at the Ministry. Participants were also presented with a clarification on the GFS sectoral coverage and division, which includes 46 independent entities at a Federal Government level.
