The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, UAE Chapter announced today 23rd of April 2014 the appointment of actress NisreenTafesh as the Humanitarian Ambassador for the non-profit organization at a press conference held in Media One Hotel, Dubai Media City. Through Tafesh’s work with the PCRF, the organization plans to expand their services and raise awareness of its needs in order to help more children from the Middle East.
The PCRF currently provides three different kinds of medical assistance to injured and sick children from Palestine, Syria and Iraq. The PCRF, as a non-profit, non-religious, non-political organization runs solely on the charitable efforts of volunteers. The first type of medical assistance are medical missions in Palestine, where doctors from all over the world visit Palestine, offering surgeries, expertise and training otherwise not available. The second form consists of sending children from Palestine, Syria and Iraq to chapters in 20 different countries, where medical surgeries are performed. The third type is humanitarian projects, which can range from fundraising for wheelchairs to fundraising for an entire hospital.
The biggest humanitarian project for the PCRF is the Huda Al Masri Pediatric Cancer Center located in Beit Jala, Palestine. The cancer center is the first, and only, privately owned hospital in the Palestinian Territories for cancer treatment and has been funded entirely by donations from all over the world. Facilities and equipment are still being added to the center, and donations are continuously being collected. Currently, the cancer center has facilities to treat 14 patients, a small number compared to the 90-120 new cancer cases in children recorded per year in the country.
During the press conference, the PCRF also elaborated on plans to raise awareness through marketing strategies by utilizing their partnership with entourage marketing & events to increase medical treatments in the UAE and number of operating rooms in the Huda Al- Masri Pediatric Cancer Center.
MazenAloul, the Media Coordinator of the PCRF- UAE chapter said, “Last year volunteer efforts helped us host 5 children seeking medical attention in the UAE, and we’re hoping to increase that number by increasing awareness, especially with hospitals who can offer free surgeries. We are confident that having the esteemed actress NisreenTafesh on board will help us achieve our goals to expand our charitable services.”
Commenting on the announcement, Mohammed Tayem, entourage chief said, “We have been supporting the PCRF in raising awareness through PR and advertising campaigns because we recognize the importance of giving back to the community. Instilling the ideology of social responsibility within our team has helped motivate us and humble us. We are especially focused on bringing attention to the pediatric cancer center in Palestine, as we realize the number of cases of cancer is monumental in comparison to the help being provided.”
Nisreen Tafesh, Humanitarian Ambassador of the PCRF, UAE Chapter said, “Children are the brightness of our future and the work that the PCRF is currently doing is genuinely remarkable. It gives me utmost honor to be representing this organization and to raise awareness about children who need medical help and assistance. I have met with some of the children the PCRF have brought to the UAE, and they have astounded me with their courage and kindness. They have touched my heart, and I will do everything within my capability to make sure they receive the help and attention they deserve
