Under Patronage Of Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan QCC Set To Host Abu Dhabi Quality Forum 2014 From April 27-28
(21 April 2014)

Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), the entity responsible for developing the emirate’s quality infrastructure and raising awareness on quality standards in Abu Dhabi, has announced the second edition of the Abu Dhabi Quality Forum will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the National Security Advisor and Vice Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, from April 27-28 at St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi.

ADQF will seek to highlight the prerequisites for building Abu Dhabi’s quality infrastructure towards enabling a sustainable and diverse economy in Abu Dhabi. It will also reiterate the endorsement of high quality business standards for enhancing the competitiveness of the emirate at a global level.

ADQF 2014 will include 10 plenary sessions and 12 workshops on the implementation of quality standards in Abu Dhabi across vital sectors including food, healthcare, child safety, environment, infrastructure projects and metrology, among others.

In particular, the conference will examine aspects such as standards, measurements, testing capabilities and compliance schemes with the objective of boosting industrial growth in Abu Dhabi. In addition to offering participants an opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions on industry best practices and their applications in Abu Dhabi, the event will offer recommendations to overcome the challenges facing quality infrastructure in the emirate.

The announcements were made during a press conference held today at the Abu Dhabi Economic Media Club that was attended by Abdulla Hassan Al Muaini, Executive Director, Conformity Scheme Services at QCC, Engineer Khaled Salmeen Al Kawari, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), His Excellency Mohammed Ghanim Al Mansouri, Deputy General Manager, Al Foah Co, and Mariam Yousef Ahli, Vice President of Public Relation and Corporate Communication, Al Hilal Bank.

Addressing the press conference, Abdulla Hassan Al Muaini, Executive Director - QCC, said: "By organizing the second edition of ADQF, we are aiming to create an innovative platform to bring together all relevant stakeholders, including heads of government entities as well as business and industry leaders to discuss strategies that help advance the quality infrastructure in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The theme of this event, ‘From local to global’, seeks to put into perspective the expected outcomes of this international gathering in shaping the future of Abu Dhabi and its economy.

"This year, the event features several new sessions that will add to the quality and diversity of the plenaries and workshops. Compared to the previous edition, ADQF is expected to grow by 135%, with academic institutions set to constitute nearly 10% of the audience. National, regional and international experts and panelists will discuss ways to enhance the quality infrastructure in the emirate and position it as a leading quality and conformity hub in line with the objectives outlined in the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030."

Thanking Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), Al Foah Co. and Al Hilal Bank as the key sponsors of the second edition of ADQF, Al Muaini stressed on the importance of their support in driving industrial growth in Abu Dhabi through establishing critical linkage between quality, economic performance and competitiveness.

The inaugural edition of the forum in 2013 attracted nearly 780 participants. The number is set to nearly double this year with the online system already registering 1,300 attendees. Additionally, nearly 86 local and regional speakers in different areas of quality - government regulators and quality experts from both public and private sectors are expected to address the forum.

ADQF has emerged as a definitive event to shape the quality landscape in Abu Dhabi and provides a creative platform for regional and international experts to promote cooperation, exchange knowledge and share best practices to advance Abu Dhabi’s quality infrastructure and enhance its leading position as a hub for quality and conformity.

The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council was established in 2009 to represent the regulatory authorities in Abu Dhabi and raise the quality of the Emirate’s exports and locally traded products. QCC works towards promoting a culture of quality, driving the Emirate’s industrial development, supporting the competitiveness of its economy and protecting the rights of customers. These objectives are achieved through empowering regulators to establish and implement product safety, legal metrology and conformity schemes. QCC also sets guidelines and benchmarks to identify and verify that the products manufactured and traded in Abu Dhabi conform to the highest quality standards
