Emirates NBD, the leading banking Group in the region, announced today that it has appointed Giel-Jan Van Der Tol as a member of the Board of Directors and the new Managing Director of Emirates NBD Egypt. Giel-Jan served as the General Manager of Wholesale Banking at Emirates NBD since December 2011.

Commenting on this appointment, Shayne Nelson, Group CEO, Emirates NBD said, "We are pleased to announce the appointment of Giel-Jan Van Der Tol as the new Managing Director of Emirates NBD Egypt. Giel-Jan's excellent leadership skills will steer Emirates NBD's business in Egypt in a direction that will ensure a high performance. His professionalism, banking knowledge and expertise will support Emirates NBD in achieving the aspirations of the Group. In his new capacity, Giel-Jan will continue to serve as a member of the Emirates NBD Group Executive Committee."

Giel-Jan previously served as the CEO of Dubai Bank, Emirates NBD's fully owned subsidiary. He has over 23 years of extensive and varied banking experience in different geographies as well as a successful track record of strong achievements in various functions in Islamic, corporate and retail banking.
