FGP Joins Millions Across The Globe In Support Of Earth Hour 2014

FGP hosts ’green’ themed activities to raise environmental awareness amongst its employees and tenants

 

In support of global environmental initiative, Earth Hour 2014,which is designed to help raise awareness about overconsumption of the world’s resources,First Gulf Properties (FGP), a real estate service provider specialising in end-to-end property solutions,participated in the ‘big switch off’and hosted a program of eco-friendly themed activities at Fortress Compound yesterday.

Keen to develop environmental awareness among its tenants and employees and get everyone involved in the initiative, FGP organised events which included, amongst others, a ‘recyclable bag challenge,’giving children the chance to get creative by decorating recyclable bags. Children participating in the events were also encouraged to write their hopes for the future of the environment on leaf shaped paper.

Additionally, FGP organiseda ‘Plant a Treeand Save the Planet activity’in collaboration with Orchid Flowers, as well as a health awareness discussion in collaboration with Life Line Fitness Center.

During the event, Fortress residents also took part in forming the number “60” with candles inside the gates of the compound in celebration of this global environment initiative and enjoyed a number of family activities such as face painting, challenges for both adults and children and glow stick games, before joining the rest of the globe in the big switch off.

Commenting on the Earth Hour activities, Jasim Al Ali, Chief Executive Officer of FGP said: “Earth Hour is reaching further than ever before, however, the main challenge does not lie in the call for change but rather in engaging all communities in this global movement and encouraging them to conserve energy on a daily basis. When it comes to caring for the environment, FGP continuously seeks to raise awareness of its importance and participates in  global environmental initiatives like this,  encouraging all of our employees and tenants to unite in making a pledge to save the planet and incorporate simple yet long lasting changes to support the environment.”

Earth Hour is a globally celebrated event organised by Emirates Wildlife Society (EWS) in cooperation with the World Wide Fund (WWF)and is designed to aid inpreventing the degradation of the earth’s natural environments. Every year, FGP urges businesses, employees, residents and occupants under its management to participate in ‘The Big Switch Off’.
