United Arab Emirates is celebrating the World Civil DefenseDay tomorrow, which will be held under the theme “civil defense and preventive education for the community”, as part of the international celebration of this day, which takes place on March 3rd.

To mark the occasion, celebrations will take place under this theme at all the regional civil defense departments in the country,according to the program designed by the higher committee. The opening of 4th Annual Fire Safety Technology Forumwill also take place as part of the civil defense’s celebration. The event will take place over the course of one day, where five world renowned experts willparticipate in discussing crisis managementon land and on water, as well as investigating the causes of fires. The event will be held atthe YAS Viceroy hotel in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting, which will discuss the issues of “planning and recovering from emergencies,” will review the latest global applications and procedures in the field of public safety by an elite group of experts and international leaders, explaining their experiences and the lessons they have learned, which can further improve and develop any future plans for civil defense.It also aims to raise awareness and market the technological inventions, both locally and internationally,by inviting leaders from the firefighting and safety industry to participate in the event.

Major General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Acting Commander-in-chief of Civil Defense, said: “The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Command of Civil Defense, is working tirelessly to garner the public’s trust of the departmentthrough its awareness, educational and scientific activities, as an embodiment of the strategic goal of the Ministry of Interior, which is in line with the government’s vision to make the UAE one of the best countries worldwide in terms of excellency and public services.”

He also added: “The main civil defense operations (serve, prevent, and fight) forms a full package of inseparable services that start and end with awareness. As for the public’s awareness of dangers; it is an essential factor in reaching our goal in preserving lives, properties and environment.”

He emphasized the unlimited support that the department receives from the government, which reflects the higher authorities’ interest in civil defense, as one of the departments playing a very important and vital role in protecting lives, public and private properties, and national gains.
