Ferrari World Abu Dhabi Inspires Students To Find Their Drive With Its Latest Educational Initiative
(2 March 2014)

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Ferrari World Abu Dhabi announced the launch of its new Work Experience Programme during the Youth In Action Leadership Conference, which took place in Dubai recently. The initiative is an extension of the Park’s current educational offering, the "Coaster Lab" programme, announced in October last year, and is designed to introduce and explain the concept of theme parks as possible new career path to students in the UAE.

The Work Experience Programme will provide students the opportunity to experience first-hand what it is like to work in the theme park industry, while enjoying the inspirational brand and offering unique to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

Lilian Mueni Wafula, Training and Development Director at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, commented, "With the launch of this programme, we hope to give students across the UAE an exciting opportunity to jumpstart their careers in the theme park industry. We are proud to be part of such an iconic brand that serves as a source of inspiration for children and adults alike."

The launch of the programme also comes in light of the recent call for more focus on vocational training.
Wafula added, "Investing in young talent not only results in the career development of these students but also benefits the UAE industry in the long run. By tailoring placements to suit the students’ preferences, our Work Experience Programme seeks to highlight their strengths and develop their potential to take on jobs in this emerging industry."

Open to students aged 12-18 in schools within the UAE, the programme will provide on-the-job learning experiences as well as a chance for students to express their ideas through assigned projects, overseen by supervisors from each department involved. At the time of application, students are free to choose their training preferences among several professional areas within the theme park such as Guest Services, Rides and Attractions, Merchandising and Food and Beverage, which are taken into consideration by the Park’s Training & Development Department while designing programmes for individual students.

Schools are responsible for nominating students interested in the programme, and for managing their application process. "We encourage schools to use this opportunity as part of their incentive or reward schemes," Wafula concluded.
