(10 February 2014)

The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi will be hosting renowned international Masterchef Bart De Pooter from two-Michelin star restaurant Pastorale.

The resort’s signature restaurant, 55&5th, The Grill will host the Chef De Pooter as part of their four day restaurant promotion for Gourmet Abu Dhabi, from 15 - 18 February. The Masterchef along with the resorts Executive Chef, Daniel Nuss and Chef de Cuisine Lee Murdoch will prepare two exclusive set menus (a five-course and seven-course) featuring a focus on meat. Guests to the award winning 55&5th, The Grill during this time can expect a delectable menu and have the chance to meet the chef extraordinaire and his team.

Chef Bart hails from Belgium where he is the Founder, Chef and Executive Director of Pastorale, a restaurant in the small village of Reet near Antwerp, Belgium. Pastorale is a two star Michelin restaurant (2003, 2006) and is ranked in the top 60 restaurants worldwide on renowned review website, wbpstars.com. Chef Bart has a clear-cut vision on food, cooking and eating, and is guided by his passionate affinity for regional, ecological products. His preference for the honest plate takes root from his mother’s cuisine, where pleasure was found in growing harvesting ingredients.

Additionally, Master Pâtissier Fabrice David from The Ecole Valrhona Tokyo will be creating indulgent treats in Sucré and The Drawing Room, located in the lobby of the resort. Fabrice; hailing from Brittany France, opened the first Valrhona school overseas in Japan which now boasts over 1,500 professions from around the world learning the intricacies of chocolate. From Wednesday, February 05 to Saturday, February 08, Fabrice will create a chocolate inspired afternoon tea in The Drawing Room from 2pm – 4pm.

The four course and seven course set menus at 55&5th, The Grill are priced at AED 550 and AED 750 respectively and are subject to 10% service charge and 6% tourism fee.
