Abu Dhabi Police Headquarters represented by the Directorate General of Guards and Special Tasks at Abu Dhabi Police, askedmanagers of sports clubs to allow audiences in to venues two hours prior to the commencement of gamesto prevent congestion that might take place in the last minutes leading up to the games. They alsoaddressed the importance of providing accessible ticket vendors for the spectators, and allowing these vendors to operate for enough time before the games.
The Directorate General of Guards and Special Tasks at Abu Dhabi Police held a meeting on Sunday for the UAE Pro League Committee (PLC)andpolice representatives from all over the UAE to discuss matters related to the Arab Gulf League, and discuss the search for mechanisms and solutions for the challenges and obstaclesthat they face.
“The sports stadiums’ security is a shared responsibility for clubs, the Pro League Committee, and the Ministry of Interior, and it is important to achieve a full security system,” said Brigadier General Fares Khalifa Obaid Al Farisi, Director General of Guards and Special Tasks at Abu Dhabi Police, at the beginning of the meeting.
“The right to enter the stadium is guaranteed to any person who has a ticket, but this needs to be done in a timely and convenient way for all parties,” he added,stressingthe importance of limiting the number of administrative staff members and employees that go to the stadium to maintain the level of safety and security.
He also said that they will increasingly monitor the food available to the audience and provide more logistical services, in addition to instructional signageand prayer rooms.
As for specialized security firms, he clarified that security requires cooperation with qualified firms to equip stadiums with asufficient number of security guards during the game, according to how important the game is and how many people are attending. “The Directorate General of Guards and Special Tasks is ready to provide quality security services based on the FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation requirements,” Al Farisi pointed out.
The meeting was attended by Colonel Rashid Suhail Saeed Al Ali, Head of Guards and Special Tasks Department; Mr. Colin Smith, CEO of the Pro League Committee; H.E Mr.Hamad Ben Nekhirat Al Ameri, Executive office member; Mr. Suhail Al Turaifi, Head of the Administrative Affairs Sector;Mr. Mohammad Bassil Al Jallad, executive member of the Pro League Committee’s technical department administration; and various representatives from police departments from all over the UAE.
