Timur Ernst Akhmedov Showcases ’northern Song’ Masterpiece At Avenue At Etihad Towers

His Excellency Nasser al Nowais, Chairman of Aswaq Management and Services and Chairman of Rotana Hotels inaugurated the much anticipated Alif Art Gallery exhibition yesterday at ‘AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS,’ Abu Dhabi’s first standalone high-end luxury shopping destination.

Based in Dubai, Alif Art Gallery was founded by Natalya Andakulova to promote understanding in the Middle East of the rich art culture in Central Asia. The exhibition features pieces by renowned Uzbek-born artist Timur Ernst Akhmedov.

Commenting on the occasion, Ms. Andakulova said: “This is the second time we have a hosted an Alif Arts Gallery exhibition at AVENUE IN ETIHAD TOWERS. It’s the perfect venue as Abu Dhabi emerges as an art and culture destination, thirsty for new art experiences. As a destination that has set a precedent for fashion and luxury in the capital, AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS was the ideal partner to exhibit Akhmedov’s work.”

Richard Foulds, Head of Property Management at Etihad Towers, further added: “Abu Dhabi is cultivating a prominent art culture, and at AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS – a destination for both the traditional and applied arts – we are keen to serve art audiences with illustrious pieces.

Throughout his career, Timur Ernst Akhmedov has been recognised worldwide by exhibiting in countless venues that include Russia, Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom. His work is also displayed in a variety of international private and corporate collection and his famous collectors include musician Seal, Dr. M.W.J. Smurfit and His Serene Highness Prince Albert of Monaco. Timur Ernst Akhmedov is also member of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.

During the exhibition, the Alif Art Gallery at AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS will showcase Timur Ernst Akhmedov’s masterpiece, ‘Northern Song’ which was displayed at the opening ceremony on 2nd February. The piece, which is an enchanting forest landscape, is described as a ‘delicate piece of tapestry woven from tree branches, icy air with delicate shimmering warm and cool shades.’

The Alif Art Gallery exhibition will be on display at AVENUE ATETIHAD TOWERS until 13th February 2014.
