Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s first mega waterpark, is inviting adventure seekers to take part in a completely unique experience that will see them dive deep intothe Emirati heritage.
The new and one-of-a-kindYas Pearl Diving Experience at Yas Waterworld gives gueststhe chance to plunge to the depths of an underwater tank in a quest to collect three oysters, which containprecious pearls, in an adventure reminiscent of Emirati pearl diving.
Taking place four times daily and availableto waterpark guests eight years and older, theone-hour Pearl Diving experienceincludes a safety briefing in a purpose-built cabana ahead of the five metredive. Accompanied by twofully-trained dive instructors and in line with the ancient tradition, guests will wear only goggles for visibility, and hold their breath on their underwater adventure.
“Yas Waterworld is themed around “The Lost Pearl”, an original story about Dana, a young Emirati girl on a quest for the legendary pearl that had once brought prosperity to her village,”said Mike Oswald, Park General Manager at Yas Waterworld. “The unique Yas Pearl Diving Experience, which isn’t available at any other waterpark, allows us to take this authenticity to the next step by bringing our guests closer to the ancient pearl diving tradition of the UAE by literally immersing them in it!”
Once guests are safely back on dry ground, they will be invited to the‘Oyster Opening Ceremony’ in the park’s Tawasha Pearl Shop, where they will discover how to correctly open their oysters and learn more about the colour and quantity of the treasure, which is theirs to take home as a momento of their experience. Customers can also choose to have their pearls set into jewellery as a personal and memorable souvenir of their experience and time spent at Yas Waterworld.
Yas Pearl Diving Experience is open to all ticketed Yas Waterworld guests aged eight years and older. The cost for the one hour experienceis AED149 per guest. For more information or to book a Pearl Diving Experience, please call 02 414 2000.
