Gourmet Abu Dhabi Serves Up ’Best Value’ Learning Sessions
(23 January 2014)

Gourmet Abu Dhabi – the 16-day culinary festival which gets underway next month (February) - will serve up the finest cuisine and also let guests learn how to make it.

The festival, which runs February 4-19, will include two Culinary Creation Stages,at the five-star, The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort& Spa, when guests will digest the secrets of a distinctly European masterchef line-up.

Running February 7th and 8th, gourmet greats will cook up dishes at the Culinary Creation Stages forguests to note, and taste, and all for just AED200 per person per day – or AED350 for those booking both days.

“This represents some of the very best value around when you consider guests get to learn from some of the biggest names in the business and have coffee breaks and lunch included in the price,” said Noura Al Dhaheri of the Gourmet Abu Dhabi organising committee.

The Culinary Creation Stage will feature a cast that boasts 12 Michelin stars between them. Taking to the open kitchen will be Belgium’s Bart de Pooter, Christophe Muller, Christophe Roure, Christopher Coutanceau and Cyril Lignac of France and Italy’s Fabio Pisani.

The sessions will be moderated by Amina Elshafei, the culinary personality who was born in Saudi Arabia of Korean and Egyptian parentage and has lived in Australia since the age of four. Growing up in a household of two different cultures, Amina has enjoyed learning, cooking and eating both Korean and Middle Eastern dishes that she now enjoys sharing with her family and friends.

Meanwhile, those with a passion for bread can head down to Café D’Alsace at Yas Marina on February 8 for a lesson in traditional country bread making from Bavaria’s very own master baker Chef Rainer Scharold. The cost of AED200includes breakfast.
