Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), as part of its leading role in supporting various sectors of the Abu Dhabi economy especially the industrial sector to achieve sustainable development, is participating inthe World Future Energy Summit (WFES) that is underway from 20 -22 Januaryat the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
Through its dedicated pavilion at the three-day global event, QCCseeks to provide insight among manufacturers and suppliers into its standards and conformity programmes. A technical document, the conformity programme stipulates requirements for products, systems and personnelin order to meet specific criteria that are based on assessmentsand continuous monitoring and inspection of markets. The conformity programme is consistently updated to meet the requirements of various government entities in order to enable Abu Dhabi achieve its social, economic and environmental goals.
QCC’s pavilion at WFESalso showcases products that have received the Trustmark for Environmental Performance and conform to the specifications and requirements set by the regulatory authorities in the emirate.
His Excellency Hussain Salem Al Katheeri, Secretary General - QCC, said: “QCC aims to enhancesafetyand quality of products while ensuring Abu Dhabi’s conformancetointernational standards.Through our participation at WFES 2014, weseekto engage with various partners, stakeholders and the general public to promote conformity with quality standards and specifications. Our efforts will serve to enhance the mutual trust between industryand consumers, and protect the local community within the emirate from the hazards of trading in unsafe products."
Organised by Masdar, WFESoffers a crucial opportunity for governments, companies and policy makers to discuss necessary measures that stimulate industrial growth in the Middle East and boost the efficiency of products within the energy sector. The event, hosted alongside the International Water Summit (IWS) and the inaugural edition of EcoWASTE 2014, has drawnmore than 30,000 visitors this year.
QCC was set up in 2009 to improve the quality of Abu Dhabi’s exports and locally traded products and to protect the interest consumers while creating a competitive economy in the UAE. The Councilseeks to enable regulators to develop and implement product safety and legal standards in accordance with compliance schemes. QCCalso specifies the guidelines and basic criteria to identify and verify that various products manufactured and traded in Abu Dhabi conform to the highest quality standards.
