Kenya Tourism Board Launches Campaign To Promote ’An Authentic Safari Destination’
(7 January 2014)

Kenya’s Tourism marketing agency - Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) together with the national carrier - Kenya Airways have organised for a two-day promotional event beginning from 10th to 11th January 2014 to be held at Al Ain Zoo.

The event aims to promote Kenya as an authentic wildlife safari destination and showcase the variety of cultures present in the diverse African nation.

Kenya was voted the World’s leading safari destination during the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2013 in Doha, Qatar, and will look to encourage wildlife enthusiasts visiting the zoo to visit Kenya and experience the world’s most authentic safari destination firsthand.

The event will give KTB the opportunity to promote the wide variety of safari options available in Kenya, whilst also providing an opportunity for visitors to experience a little bit of Kenyan culture during the event.

Promotional activities will include a Masai Cultural Troupe performance and interactive drumming classes, hair braiding and Kenyan Henna to showcase the cultural diversity of Kenya, as well as a face painter and fun photo opportunity corners giving visitors the chance to dress like tribesmen. There will also be a competition run over the two days with the winner getting a four-day trip to magical Kenya for an exciting safari.

In an effort to increase awareness of Kenya as a leading global holiday destination throughout the GCC, KTB recently launched an Arabic and English Facebook page, Magical Kenya GCC, which offers a platform for potential visitors to learn more about the destination.

KTB Managing Director Muriithi Ndegwa said "the UAE is one of the key tourism source markets to Kenya and has shown remarkable growth in the past few years.

"For example in the 2013 financial year that ended in June, UAE recorded a 24.4% growth with 20,624 visitors to Kenya compared to 16,583 in the same period in 2012."
