"Police Friends" Program Launched In Al Ain
(18 December 2013)

The Clubs and Sports Activities Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by Al Ain Police Officers’ Club, launched the “Police Friends” Program for the children of the Al Ain Directorate’s staff. 60 male and female students of all ages have been enrolled in the program.

The two-week program includes a number of physical and social activities such as contests, games, sports, and religious seminars. The program includes many visits and field trips to various locations, including the Al Ain Zoo, the Al Ain Museum and the Al Bada Resort.

“The program is in pursuance of the Police Headquarters’ instructions to protect children from reckless behaviors and actions that are carried during leisure times,” said Colonel HarebKhamis Al Khaili, Deputy Head of Clubs Department and Director of Al Ain Police Officers Club. He added: “This program was prepared to acquaint students with their parent’s work environment, and their duties in serving and protecting society, as well as to encourage them to be creative and innovative.”

He pointed out that the program includes a number of events, as well as religious, social, instructional activities; many visits will also be carried out to different departments and stations that would allow children to see police work being conducted. He added that the program benefits the children in many ways, and that the activities organized are age-appropriate.

“All the club facilities have been prepared for the arrival of the children and provide suitable services to maintain their safety. The program was expanded to include girls, enabling them to benefit from the program and its events. Awards were allocated and contests were prepared to choose outstanding participants in each activity and event in order to promote fair competition among participants,” he revealed.

Al Khaili explained that many parties contributed to the success of this program: Police departments and stations (Public Relations at the Al Ain Police Directorate, the Traffic Institute, Security Inspection Department “K9”, the Police Colleges, and the Medical Services Department), Zayed House for Family Care, the Al Ain Zoo and Aquarium, and the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority.

At the end of his speech, Al Khaili stressed the need for parents to monitor their children by enrolling them in centers and clubs that provide constructive programs and activities, encouraging them to increase their skills and potential, acquainting them with the appropriate activities for them (especially regarding the use of efficient modern technologies), and encouraging them to visit public places that are age- appropriate. In conclusion, he said that the various police departments will work to ensure comfort and service.
