The protégé of legendary French chef Paul Bocuse will arrive in Abu Dhabi next February to take a starring role in the 16-day Gourmet Abu Dhabi festival recently ranked by the Sydney Morning Herald metro-paper as one of the world’s Top Six culinary events.
Masterchef Christophe Muller, who leads the kitchen at the three-Michelin-star L’Auberge du Pont de Collonges – the Lyon gastronomic home of Paul Bocuse – is to head a four-day restaurant promotion at the La Mer seafood outlet at the five-star Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche from February 10-13. He will also headline a chateau dinner at the hotel on February 11 in conjunction with Domaine de Montille and Château de Puligny-Montrachet.
“In the contemporary annals of classic French cuisine names don’t come much bigger than Christophe Muller,” said Nael El-Waary, General Manager, Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche. ”Masterchef Muller is renowned for his unique abilities and is one of the few culinary recipients of the coveted Meilleurs Ouvriers de France which honours the finest craftsmen in the Republic. We are sure his La Mer promotions will be evenings of extraordinary food and drink which will appeal to those with finely honed palates.”
Christophe Muller’s signing is being seen by the festival organisers as a major coup as the event, which is entering its sixth year, stamps its credentials on the global gourmet scene.
“Not many masterchefs would have the courage to step into the shoes of Paul Bocuse who is the world’s most honoured chef of all time yet, masterchef Muller has not only risen to the challenge but etched out his own highly regarded reputation,” said Noura Al Dhaheri of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), which presents the festival. “Christophe Muller is internationally regarded for his precision, speed and innovative methods and with there being less than 100 three-star Michelin restaurants in the world, and Christophe at the head of one of the most renowned, this is indeed a rare opportunity to enjoy classic French cuisine at its very best.”
Gourmet Abu Dhabi runs at around 20 of the UAE capital’s foremost restaurants from February 4-19.
