In line with its efforts to promote environmentally friendly practices, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) has announced that it has started using a number of ‘green’ vehicles which run on compressed natural gas. Today’s announcement was made during a ceremony organised by the Ministry, which took place at its Headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
MoF, in collaboration with Emirates Transport, converted several of its vehicles to natural gas operation and will continue to convert all of its vehicles as time goes on, in an effort to reduce the Ministry’s carbon emissions and use more renewable resources.
The announcement ceremony was attended by HE Musabah Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary of Support Services Sector at MoF and by HE Mohammed Abdullah Al Jarman, General Manager of Emirates Transport, along with a number of employees from MoF and Emirates Transport.
Commenting on the occasion, HE Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary of Support Services Sector at MoF, said: “MoF is considered as a leading government entity in terms of adopting green initiatives, and is committed to preserving the environment using practices which meet international standards. The use of environmentally friendly vehicles reflects the Ministry’s desire to continue to implement CSR initiatives within the local community, which will in turn protect the environment and reduce the UAE’s carbon footprint.”
HE Mohammed Abdullah Al Jarman, General Manager of Emirates Transport, highlighted that the use of environmentally friendly vehicles reflects the commitment of government entities to meet Federal Government directives which aim to ensure that the UAE is adopting green practices and working to minimise any further environmental damage. HE added that it also reaffirms the UAE’s leading position in the field of sustainable development and falls in line with the country’s plans to help address global challenges through effective solutions.
MoF’s commitment to implement the Federal Government’s drive to achieve sustainable environmental management has made the Ministry adopt a clear strategy in terms of green initiatives in order to manage its natural resources such as water and energy across all of its premises.
