The Guru behind the best Chinese fine dining is on his way to Abu Dhabi. Chef Ho Chee Boon – the International Executive Chef of the highly acclaimed luxury dining chain – has become the latest global master chef to sign up for the UAE capital’s world-ranked culinary festival Gourmet Abu Dhabi, which runs February 4-19.
The two-Michelin-Starred Chef Ho Chee – who’s now based in Hakkasan New York which is just a stone’s throw from Times Square –joined Hakkasan in London in 2002 and has been instrumental in the development of Hakkasan worldwide, having been part of the opening team of Hakkasan in Mumbai, Dubai, Doha, New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Beverly Hills. In 2012, Chef Ho received a Michelin Star in Hakkasan New York only seven months after the opening.
When in Abu Dhabi Chef Ho Chee will headline a four-day restaurant promotion, from February 10-13, at the luxury Hakkasan outlet in the opulent Emirates Palace hotel.
“This is fabulous news for us,” said Paulo Bastos, General Manager of the multi-award-winning Hakkasan Abu Dhabi, Emirates Palace. “Chef Ho Chee is the man who insisted Hakkasan menus are tailored to the specific audiences in individual regions, which is what we have achieved at Hakkasan Abu Dhabi where we have introduced a series of options designed for our growing Emirati clientele.”
Chef Ho Chee, who hails from Guangdong, grew up preparing traditional Cantonese fare but learnt to adapt his art into the first Chinese fine dining concept. He’s now responsible for new Hakkasan openings around the world and development of its international menu.
“Chef Ho Chee is a force to be reckoned with,” said Noura Al Dhaheri of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), which presents Gourmet Abu Dhabi. “This will be an opportunity for foodies throughout the region to sample the cuisine which Ho Chee made famous in London and New York without paying the air fares there.”
