Abu Dhabi General Services “Musanada” has signed a contract to implement the Abu Dhabi-Dubai Road Project, in its (first) and (second) phases, with each of Ghantoot Transport & General Contracting Establishment, Tristar Engineering & Construction, and Abu Dhabi Salini Costruttori SPA, following the Abu Dhabi Executive Council’s approval of awarding the road project works – in its recently held meeting – at a cost of approximately Dh 2.138 bn (two billion, one hundred and thirty-eight million dirhams).
The two contracts were signed by HE Mohammad Khalifa Al Fahed Al Muhairi, “Musanada” CEO, and Mr. Ali Mohammmad, from Ghantoot Transport & General Contracting Establishment (a), and by Mr. Naji Al Harthi, from Tristar Engineering & Construction, for the implementation of the second phase, at “Musanada” headquarters, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.
The length of the new road adds up to around 62 km and it is an extension to Mohammad bin Zayed St; from Saih Shuaib area, Al Maha Forest and Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), to join up with the Sweihan Road (E20). The project will be accomplished within a span of 30 months from the works commencement date.
Ghantoot Transport & General Contracting Establishment will implement the first phase of the project; constituting around 34 km in length at a cost of Dh 1.297 bn (two billion, two hundred and ninety-seven million dirhams), and including three key junctions. It starts in Saih Shuaib area – on the borders of Abu Dhabi –Dubai, and along with Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed St up to Al Ajban St.
As for the seond phase of Abu Dhabi-Dubai Road, it will be implemented by Tristar Engineering & Construction and Abu Dhabi Salini Costruttori SPA, constituting around 28 km in length and including three key instersections that whitch start from Al Ajban St up to Al Sweihan Road, at a cost of nearly Dh 840 bn.
HE Mohammad Khalifa Khalifa Al Fahed Al Muhairi, affirmed that the signing of Abu Dhabi-Dubai Road implementation contract comes within the framework of the keenness of HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s, President of the UAE – and of HE Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan – Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council – to maintain balanced development all over Abu Dhabi, in integration with development projects witnessed in all cities and regions.The contract signing also coincides with the UAE’s forty-second National Day celebrations.
He also stated that “the new Abu Dhabi-Dubai Highway Project is considered as one of the biggest and most important projects in Abu Dhabi, which aims at developing roads infrastructure in the emirate. This comes in line with the visionary Plan Abu Dhabi 2030, and the Surface Transport Master Plan (STMP) whitch has been developed to upgrade the infrastructure of Abu Dhabi transporation network.
For his part, Engenerrr Ali Al Haj Al Mehairbi Executive Director - Buildings and Project Management Services at “Musanada”, stated that the new road will consist of four lanes in each direction with the possibility of expanding it in the future up to six lanes in each direction, knowing that six key junctions will be built on the road to serve new residential areas, like Al Falah, and also to serve new industrial and economic areas sutsh as, Khalifa Port and Khalifa Industrial Zone.
He also added that the Abu Dhabi-Dubai Road Project involves implementation of a number of bridges to protect services lines, especially gas lines which intersect with the track of the new road. He then pointed out that there has been coordination with relevant authorities, such as Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), regarding the part of the road extending through Kizad area, and with Etihad Rail, Transmission & Despatch Company (TRANSCO), Traffic Engineering and Road Safety Department in the Directorate of Traffic and Patrol – at the Abu Dhabi Police -, and also Abu Dhabi Gas Industries
(GASCO) and Dolphin Energy.
