Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Director General of the Emirates Identity Authority and Board Member at the Statistics Center of Abu Dhabi, have participated in the launch of the world’s largest statistical map about Abu Dhabi.
The Statistics Center of Abu Dhabi (SCAD) organized the ceremony under the theme "Abu Dhabi Over Half a Century".
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development launched the world’s largest statistical map about Abu Dhabi in presence of H.H. Sheikh Dhiyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, a number of senior officials, SCAD’s Board members and Amer Al Mahri, Director of Government Communication and Community of Emirates ID.
The map details the significant developments in the capital’s history through time series covering the sixties under the title "Abu Dhabi Before the Union", followed by the seventies, eighties, nineties, then the first decade of the new millennium and finally "Present of Abu Dhabi from 2010 to 2013". It shows the audience the prominent developments took place in Abu Dhabi and demonstrates its bright image over fifty years.
The map constitutes an important strategic project which serves the "Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030" and the city’s historical memory, and is considered as an achievement documenting such a history that portraits a marvelous success story over half a century.
The Statistics Center of Abu Dhabi expected a rise of more than 4 percent in the Emirate’s population during the current year and a 5 percent in 2014 increasing from 2.34 million at the end of 2012 to around 2.44 by the end of 2013. Abu Dhabi’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has doubled 190 times over the past fifty years to reach AED 911.6 billion, making a record in terms economic boom.
