All eyes will be in the skies in Al Ain this National Day as an Etihad Airways A346 performs a fly past for visitors to the Al Ain Aerobatics Show at Al Ain International Airport 04.15 pm (December 2).
Interactive stands, runway demos, a public food court, a dedicated kids zone, roving entertainers and-on-ground have added to the aerial excitement at the 10th Anniversary show which closes Monday night.
The show’s many sponsors and partners including Etihad, Huawei, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), BAE Systems, Abu Dhabi National Hotels, Eastern Motors, Mercedes Benz; destination partners such as Wadi Adventure, Al Ain Zoo and Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club were on-site to wow crowds with their offerings.
Organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) and the UAE Air Force, a daily, eight-hour action packed aerial programme kept all eyes glued to the skies above, whilst a massive 60,000m² interactive Spectator Zone with a 6,000 seating Grand Stand boasted the show’s biggest on-ground activation so far, providing free, all day family fun for the tens of thousands of visitors.
A giant food court with KFC, Krispy Kreme, Pizza Hut, Hardees and Americana; a giant swing and surf simulator by Wadi Adventure; a human Gyroscope; stilt-walkers; a mini-golf course and climbing wall by the Al Ain Equestrian Shooting & Golf Club; a mini-football shootout; a Zen Lounge booth for video games; an inflatable giant slide; a bouncy castle; a family park and giant live footage on the screens (one in food court, and three screens on the runway itself) added to the excitement of the event.

“In the midst of the aerial display, we exhibited a much awaited, intriguing and live AMG driving performance to our racecar enthusiasts as we arranged an exciting Mercedes-Benz show which included drifting, speeding, doughnut shows, in one of the fastest roadsters in the world, the Gull-Wing Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG driven by professional drivers.”
A static display of different fighter aircraft displayed by the UAE Air Force and Air Defence included a Grob 115 TA, PC7, PC21, a Mirage 2000 and a F16. The UAE Joint Aviation Command also displayed two army aircraft – the Apache and the Chinook - that was the centre of attraction for kids of all ages.
The family park area has benches and tables with plenty of shade where families laid down their picnic mats and enjoyed the show. An inflatable football field with two bouncy castles and a giant inflatable slide with a small play area kept the younger ones occupied as their parents enjoyed the aerial view.
"This year’s show was great with lots to do for the entire family,” said Kieron Duncan who works as the Dubai general manager for Audi’s regional office. “This is my first time at the Al Ain Aerobatic Show and I did not realise it was so big with so many fun things to do."
Rey Encontro from the Philippines who manned the Hobby Center booth at the show was excited with the response generated by visitors. "The prime location of our booth ensured fantastic footfall and I have personally enjoyed the show to the maximum.”
Gold event sponsors are Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), Etihad Airways, and Huawei, while Silver sponsors include BAE Systems and Abu Dhabi National Hotels. Official vehicle providers are Eastern Motors and Mercedes-Benz, and Abu Dhabi Media is the show’s official media partner.
The show has been organised by (TCA Abu Dhabi) in partnership with Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), Al Ain City Municipality and Abu Dhabi Police.
General Admission Tickets cost AED 40 for Adults and AED 20 for youths aged 12 years and under. They can be bought at the venue.
