AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS – Abu Dhabi’s first standalone luxury shopping destination – is pleased to announce that it is hosting a collection from The Majlis Gallery with pieces by UAE artist Abdulqader Al Rais along with international artists from 8th December to 12th December 2013. This marks the eighth exhibition to be held at the destination, reflecting its role as a centre for both traditional and applied arts in Abu Dhabi.

AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS is honored to host The Majlis collection which includes the work of renowned UAE artist Abdulqader Al Rais, along with other international artists’ distinguished masterpieces under the contemporary calligraphy theme. Abdulqader Al Rais, a representative of contemporary Arab-Islamic art, is considered to be amongst the most influential artists of his generation in the Gulf and the Arab World. Throughout his career, Al Rais has earned numerous awards, including The National Award of Excellence in the Arts and the 2006 Emirates Appreciation Award. His works can be found among government departments, museums and private collections worldwide.

Using Arab architecture as his inspiration, Al Rais’ characteristic style combines calligraphy, light elements, bright colors and polished style. His work celebrates the local culture and natural heritage of the UAE.

Dubai-based The Majlis Collection was founded by Alison Collins in 1989. It aims to showcase UAE artists internationally and to support them in their exploration and interpretation of the Middle East in their work.

Visitors are welcome to meet Abdulqader Al Rais and all the artists at the opening ceremony at 7pm on 8th December 2013 in AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS. The Majlis Collection will be on display daily until 12th December 2013.
