Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is marking the 42nd UAE National Day on Monday December 2, in the air, on the ground, and in cyberspace.

The airline is one of the main sponsors of the tenth Al Ain Aerobatic Show, which runs from Saturday November 30 to Monday December 2. Visitors to the show on National Day will be treated to a fly past of an Etihad Airways Airbus A330-200 aircraft at 3.50pm local time.

A second fly past the same afternoon will take place along the Abu Dhabi Corniche at 4.15pm local time.

Also on National Day, three Etihad Airways’ branded buses emblazoned with the words ‘Flying the colours of the UAE’ will take part in a Yas Island carnival parade. Manned by Etihad Airways cabin crew, the celebratory buses will distribute flags along the route.

On Social Media, Etihad Airways will launch a UAE National Day Instagram car decoration competition, encouraging UAE residents to include an element of the airline in their festive automobile decorations.

"For the airline’s more than 17,000 staff, from 138 countries, UAE National Day also provides an opportunity for everyone to reflect and celebrate their own contribution to building the UAE.”

Etihad Airways’ Abu Dhabi headquarters will be illuminated in the national colours of the UAE throughout the period of National Day celebrations. In addition, a large 40 metre UAE flag has been draped on one of the company’s HQ buildings, and is currently visible from the air and to drivers on the main Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway.

Guests flying with the airline on December 2 will receive special Etihad Airways National Day chocolates. The chocolates will also be distributed to guests in Etihad Airways’ First and Business Class lounges worldwide.

Furthermore, promotional discounts to selected destinations will be available on the Etihad Airways website, and the Etihad Guest frequent flyer program Rewards Shop will offer discounts of more than 40 per cent on certain items.
