Ahead of the 42nd UAE National Day, the Department of Finance (DoF) – Abu Dhabi held its annual celebrations under the slogan ‘Spirit of the Union’, today, in front of its headquarters in Abu Dhabi to mark the special occasion.
The National Day activities began with a recital of the UAE national anthem in the presence of HE Abdulla Ali Musleh Al Ahbabi, Acting Undersecretary of DoF, HE Mohammed Sultan bin Ghanoum Al Hameli, Director General of DoF and HE Saeed Ahmed Al Muhairi, Director General of General Directorate of Customs, in addition to executive directors and a large number of DoF employees along with their families.
On behalf of the Department and its employees, HE Abdulla Ali Musleh Al Ahbabi gave thanks and extended his congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; Their Highnesses the UAE Supreme Council Members, Rulers of the Emirates, and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the UAE Union.
HE added: “DoF is keen to ensure the prosperity and welfare of Abu Dhabi and the UAE as a whole, and has been working diligently to support the Spirit of the Union ethos. The Department has been able, thanks to its employees’ efforts, to implement an integrated framework in the field of effective financial management across the Emirate and to build a strong customs network which works to maintain homeland security and safeguard our economy.”
HE concluded: “And now we encourage everyone, including myself, to continue their efforts to progress this beloved and precious country, and mark National Day with a celebration of the nation’s achievements. It is also a good opportunity to give back to our wise leadership and the country’s loyal citizens.”
DoF organised several National Day activities, which included a special heritage costume competition where children displayed their UAE heritage costumes and a panel from the Emirates Heritage Club evaluated the participants. Three girls and three boys were selected as winners.
