To mark World Diabetes Day, the Medical Services Department at Abu Dhabi Police organized on Monday, a diabetes risk awareness drive at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.
Major Dr. Tarek Abdullah Al Junaibi, Health Education Branch Manager at the Medical Services Department and Supervisor of the campaign, said that the diabetes prevention campaign embodies the Abu Dhabi Police’s community service strategy, particularly with respect to the medical and health aspects. It also aims to spread prevention awareness among community members with a view to prevent and reduce diabetes risks.
Al Junaibi added that as part of the awareness campaign, a number of educational brochures were distributed to acquaint members of the public with the seriousness of diabetes, its risk factors and prevention means. The brochures also include advice and guidance about the chronic complications associated with diabetes and obesity on public health.
“The campaign includes free medical tests to measure blood sugar levels, blood pressure to all police staff members,” he continued; noting that it will run until next Thursday.
Concluding, Al Hunaibi indicated that the campaign will take place on Tuesday at the Capital Police Department; and at the Abu Dhabi Police Departments’ complex facing Al Mushrif Mall on Wednesday and Thursday.
