‘AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS’ – Abu Dhabi’s first standalone luxury shopping destination – is pleased to announce that it is hosting the ‘Birds of Prey’ art exhibition from 16th – 30th November 2013. The work of Christine Allison pays tribute to the UAE’s falconry heritage,featuring a series of rich oil paintings and dramatic charcoal drawings of falcons, hawks and other birds of prey.
TheBritish artisttrained at St. Martin’s School of Art, London, The New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture, USA and Exeter University, Devon. Christine was naturally drawn to the UAE for its Falconry culture. This inspired her to travel to the capital city toshowcase her contemporary collection this month. She has also exhibited widelyin the UK and her work is popular with private collectors.
Christine has a passion for drawing and an intuitive perception in the handling of oil paint and colour. In her work she achieves a bridge between realism and abstraction.Her paintings capture the power, movement and feathers of the birds and are built up in layers of paint, creating a thick, encrusted surface, which is plastered, gouged and drawn into with the brush and palette knife.
‘Birds of Prey’ marks theseventhexhibition to be held at the luxury shopping destination, reflecting its role as a centre for both fine and applied arts in Abu Dhabi,and further enhancing its commitment to hosting exhibitions and cultural activities.
The exhibition will be on display dailyat AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERSfrom 16th – 30th November 2013 at 10am to 10pm from Saturday through Thursday and from 3pm to 11pm on Fridays. Visitors are welcome to meet Christine during the opening ceremony at 7pmon 17th November.
