Organized by the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC), the award winning Abu Dhabi Science Festival (ADSF) 2013 is taking place from the 14th to the 23rd of November and will once again amaze its young visitors with the wondrous world of science. ADSF 2013 will be taking up residence at the exciting new location of the du Forum on the entertainment packed Yas Island, home to the UAE’s most spectacular family attractions: Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Waterworld. The eagerly anticipated 3rd edition of the Festival goes from strength to strength, with du Forum holding the largest demonstration of enthralling scientific experiences the GCC has ever seen.

ADSF 2013 will present two exhibits from Yas Island’s key attractions. The exciting workshops will demonstrate the breath-taking science behind the hair-raising ups and downs of rollercoasters and waterpark rides and are designed to intrigue and engage our future physicists and engineers within the UAE. .

The ground breaking ADSF 2013 is just one of TDC’s many initiatives specifically dedicated to the education, engagement and inspiration of the nation’s youth encouraging them to pursue education and careers in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI). ADSF 2013, at du Forum will be held in a bespoke tent, built to be large enough to hold the vast array of engaging content that has also been enhanced further with riveting regional exhibits and local workshops, including two from the sensational theme parks on Yas.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will be showcasing their latest educational offering, Coaster Lab; the first program of its kind in the region, addressing the fascinating physics behind rollercoasters and giving audiences a glimpse behind the scenes of the world’s fastest rollercoaster, Formula Rossa. Developed by Ferrari World Abu Dhabi in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Education and Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), Education Partner for ADSF, Coaster Lab will wow children with the intricacies of speed as they learn the intensive engineering facets of modern day rollercoaster design.

Lana Ghandour, Senior Manager, Projects, Science and Technology Promotion, from TDC said: "Year after year we aim to enrich our activities and offer the community the most thrilling Festival ever. Our collaboration with Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Waterworld, two of the UAE’s most exciting family attractions, is testament to our mission to provide the richest, most inspirational scientific and technological experiences available. Their participation in the Festival also demonstrates their support of instilling a passion for science and technology within our youth.

Mike Oswald, General Manager of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Waterworld continued: "At Ferrari World Abu Dhabi we are driven by passion and innovation, and through school programs such as Coaster Lab we want to instill that crucial drive in future generations. We strongly believe in creating interest for school students around Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) subjects that will open up new career paths for them in a young and exciting industry in the UAE."

For fledgling scientists, intrigued about how to combine the excitement of spills at a water park with conservation and responsibility for the planet, Yas Waterworld, the first water park in the world to receive the prestigious Estidama Pearl Rating for green initiatives: Yas Waterworld: Water flow and conservation. Budding engineers and landscape architects will get their chance to design and build their own water park after observing how the tricky balance is maintained by sensitive water flow models. Recognizing that recycling the water is of utmost importance, not only to the region but to the world, students will be educated on how to take on the essential job of conserving water to minimize ’top-up requirements’ with absolutely no skimping on the adventure.

For fearless adrenalin junkies visiting Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Waterworld workshops, special offer vouchers, "Yas Park Passes" will be handed out.
