Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has marked its tenth anniversary with a grand celebration day for staff members and their families at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
More than 20,000 people attended the day-long event, which included a wealth of activities, entertainment and competitions hosted by international celebrities.
The highlight of the day was the final of the Etihad Airways E-Factor talent competition, presented by Australian performer and X Factor television show judge, Dannii Minogue.
Ray Gammell, Etihad Airways’ Chief People and Performance Officer, said: “Etihad Airways this week celebrates 10 years of successful operations and the staff celebration day is a fantastic moment for the workforce to come together as one multi-cultural team to celebrate the airline’s achievements.
“In any business the people are the strongest asset and that is no different at Etihad Airways which now has a workforce of nearly 16,500 people from nearly 140 nationalities. Day in, day out, our people make a fantastic contribution to the airline and Abu Dhabi.”
The celebration day had several motorsport activities for staff to enjoy including the F1 Pit Crew experience; hot laps on the Yas Marina Circuit track; and an F1 Game Zone.
For younger children there was a special appearance by Titan the Robot as well as bouncy castles, juggling acts, face painting and children’s rides.
Etihad Airways, renowned for its world class in-flight dining, entertained guests with a series of fantastic barbecue cooking demonstrations and competitions throughout the day.
The famous Chef Tarek led the cooking activities with 10 of his chefs from Meat and Livestock Australia which provided the meat for the 10 barbecue stations.
Chef Tarek and his team also worked alongside Etihad Airways’ in-flight chefs using recipes and dishes the airline serves on its aircraft.
Special prizes included Weber barbecues and cook books. For those looking to relax there was a spa and nail area as well as chill out area.
