Traffic Awareness Week For Abu Dhabi Distribution Company
(7 November 2013)

A total of 125 employees at the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) benefited from the Traffic Awareness Week organized by the Public Relations Section at the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, in collaboration with the “Saeed” Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents. The event, which was held at the company, is part of the programs that aim at enhancing communication with all companies and institutions. It also comes in line with the police general headquarters’ priority to make roads safer, and the societal communication methodology to increase traffic culture among the various society segments.

Lt. Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Chief of Public Relations Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, indicated that the traffic awareness week organized at ADDC included 5 traffic lectures presented by Warrant Officer Ahmed Abdo from the Public Relations Section. The lectures shed light on the 5 major causes of traffic accidents and their resulting human and economic losses. They also tackled the human factor’s role (both motorists and pedestrians) in traffic accidents.

He added: “The lectures also included traffic advice on the need to adhere to traffic laws and speed limits, as well as the need to leave a safe distance between vehicles, to exercise caution and refrain from using mobile phones while driving, and to wear seatbelts.”

Al Ameri stressed the need for government institutions and private companies to enhance their awareness-raising role on traffic safety by encouraging their employees and drivers to abide by traffic laws and legal speeds on internal and external roads, and to refrain from committing violations that could lead to traffic accidents. Concluding, he noted that “safety on roads is everyone’s responsibility”.
