Beachgoers basking in the sun on Saadiyat Beach in Abu Dhabi might have thought they were suffering from a heatstroke mirage when three guys headed for the fussball net outside the Park Hyatt Hotel & Villas for a friendly kickabout.

The level of play was so impressive, the three quickly drew a crowd. But that’s what you’d expect when the trio in question was none other than Argentinian football hero Diego Maradona, former Real Madrid and Blackburn Rovers full back Michel Salgado and ex Real Madrid superstrikerRaul Gonzales. All three, who were in Abu Dhabi for the Grand Prix took a break from race track action and headed for Saadiyat’s pristine beach.

Raul and Salgado were team-mates at Santiago Bernabeu for 11 years, winning two Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles.

The three posed for pictures with surprised beachgoers after the excursion, and the former Argentina manager and captain seemed in high spirits
