FIFA U-17 World Cup Fans Praise The Efforts Of Al Ain Security Committee
(1 November 2013)

Fans of the participating teams in the FIFA U-17 World Cup lauded the significant efforts exerted by the Security Committee in Al Ain. They also commended the hospitality, good reception and the flexible security measures during the games at the Khalifa bin Zayed stadium in Al Ain.

Major Saeed Nasser Al Esa’ie, Chief of Special Tasks Section and Head of Al Ain Group Security Committee stressed the Al Ain Police’s keenness to ensure all security and safety measures for fans attending these games. “The Al Ain city is well-known for quiet and distinguished atmosphere, which manifested in the success of diverse international tournaments, notably the Al Ain International Wheelchairs Meeting; the Liveable Communities Award; and other international recreational and sports events,” added Major Al Esa’ie.

He underscored the commitment of the police leadership to take all necessary measures to achieve the highest standards of safety, security and comfort for the teams. It also endeavors to provide police services to the fullest, which reflects the leading role of the UAE in hosting international sporting tournaments; a role that was highly praised by the FIFA during the field visit.

“Police teams involved in organizing the tournament are carrying out their duties to the fullest, in terms of providing the appropriate environment for civilized cheering,” indicated Major Al Esa’ie. Furthermore, he commended the role of the Community Police, which distributed brochures and pamphlets to acquaint the public with the appropriate behavioral guidelines, and the need to respect laws and regulations.

For her part, Major Souad Saud Rashid, Commander-in-chief of the Women Police in Al Ain Security Committee stated: “The Women Police members are highly qualified to take on any task entrusted to them with high efficiency; regardless of the difficulties of field work, the climatic conditions during matches.” She noted that the policewomen have underwent intensive training on ways to deal with such events, and they have successfully completed the exercises with high efficiency.

Major Rashid added: “A number of policewomen were deployed across the Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium and at the delegations’ places of residence to ensure the safety of the female members of the public, and encourage them to promote civilized cheering.” She also emphasized that the women police role reflects the prominent status attained by Emirati women in various fields, and their high preparedness to handle such international tournaments.

On the same note, a Nigerian fan expressed her deep admiration for the women police’s achievements in the UAE, commending their civilized and courteous means of dealing with people and facilitating procedures.

“I read a lot about the UAE and the remarkable developments it achieved in various aspects of life. I was also very pleased to know that it is hosting the FIFAU-17 World Cup; this definitely highlights the great potentials of the UAE in providing the appropriate and distinguished criteria to host such events,” concluded the fan.
