In support of the UAE as host nation, one of the major leading banks in the UAE, First Gulf Bank (FGB) has been announced as an official national sponsor of the Under-17 FIFA World Cup 2013 – the largest football event to ever be hosted in the country.
Throughout the tournament, which is one of the biggest international football events in the world, 52 matches will be played over three weeks in six of the UAE’s top stadiums.
These include the Emirates Stadium in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah Stadium in Fujairah, Sharjah Stadium in Sharjah, Rashid Stadium in Dubai, Khalifa Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain and the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Commenting on the sponsorship, André Sayegh, CEO of FGB, said: “The UAE is very passionate about football and the fact that it will be hosting this prestigious international event is fantastic news, for both the people and the economy. FGB has its own Fan Zone area at Abu Dhabi’s Corniche, where residents can enjoy a wide range of activities that test their agility, speed and football skills.
