Emirates Palace In Drive To Hire More Emiratis
(21 October 2013)

Emirates Palace Hotel is pushing ahead with plans to hire more Emiratis in line with a strategy by the Abu Dhabi government to employ nationals and benefit from their skills in various sectors, its manager has said.

The plans involve recruitment of nationals in different sections of the hotel including marketing, public relations, human resources, protocol services and technology, Mr. Alexander Schneider said.

“Job Emiratization in various sectors will promote local culture and expand the role of Emiratis in the hospitality sector, mainly in Emirates Palace.”

He noted that Mezlai restaurant in the hotel, the first to be specialized in UAE cuisine, already plays a key role in promoting Emirati heritage and culture among visitors and guests of Emirates Palace.

“This unique restaurant has become an ambassador of the UAE culture and heritage as its cuisine reflects the genuine Emirati traditions,” Mr. Schneider said.

He said Emirates Palace’s plan aims to benefit from qualified UAE nationals and allow them to take up important posts in the hotel.

He said that a UAE national, Yasser Zoroub, has been appointed as manager of services and human resources at the hotel is part of that plan, which is also intended to “develop national human resources in the hotel industry and allow them to serve the tourism and hospitality sector.”

“We will organize training courses at all levels for Emiratis and devise an effective mechanism to expand reliance on UAE national employees…Emirates Palace is following the wise philosophy of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to maintain the hotel’s status as a meeting point for peoples and cultures and a place for interaction between the UAE culture and other cultures.”

Mr. Schneider said Emirates Palace is also playing a key role in the community by taking part in various activities and events, including those related to care for the handicapped and the orphans as well as the environment.
He stressed that Emirates Palace would continue to support the Zayed Higher Foundation for Humanitarian Care and Autism to allow it to realize all its noble objectives in serving this group in the society.

“Emirates Palace, as a part of this society, will not spare any effort in promoting the national culture and heritage and supporting humanitarian activities in Abu Dhabi in the next period,” he said.
