David Law will be looking to end a run of near misses on the MENA Golf Tour when he tees it up at the Abu Dhabi GOLF CITIZEN Open which gets under way at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club on Monday.

Having been runner-up twice in the previous two tournaments in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, the 22-year-old Scot will fancy his chances of going the full distance this time around.

“It has been a good two weeks on the tour. I am playing really well and it be nice if I can keep the momentum going,” said Law, who will be heading to Barcelona for the second stage of the European Tour Qualifying School after the Abu Dhabi event.

“You have to keep knocking at the door and hope it will open,” said Law who feels the winner will end at seven or eight-under on this long course.

Fresh from a posting a tied third at Ras Al Khaimah, Tyler Hogartyis returning to a golf course where he finished third – as an amateur – last year.

The 21-year-old South African will be hoping good memories from last year will stand him in good stead when hejoins a strong field of 119 players.He was in with a great chance to win last week’s Ras Al Khaimah Classic, but an incorrect drop from a hazard,which resulted in a two-shot penalty, proved costly.

With four wins under his belt, England’s Zane Scotland is leading the Order of Merit for professionals with $45,000 in earnings from the first six events while Morocco’s Mustapha El Maouas is at the top of the tree in amateur division with 139 points.

Also included in the field are Wales Stephen Dodd, the English duo of Ian Keenan and Yasin Ali and the Moroccan aces FaycalSerghini and Younes El Hassani among other strong contenders.

El Hassani said the course is set up nicely and it will be fun to play. “I really like this course. The players will have to hit their approach shots in the right place on the undulating greens if they aim to do well.

"If the desert wind gets up, which happens so often, it could affect the scoring,” said the experienced Moroccan.
