Major General Staff Dr. Obeid Al HiriSalim Al Kutbi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police took part in the ADCB Zayed Sports City 5&10k Pink Run, lauding the marathon as a charity event that is instrumental for the benefit of cancer patients.
Al Kutbi stated: “Our higher leadership has built a solid high-end sports infrastructure with sophisticated modern equipment and stadiums, on par with leading cities in this field.” He praised the significant role played by the state to create a suitable environment for sports in general, with particular emphasis on competitive running; he also commended the technical and organizational success witnessed by the marathon.
He added: "Sports is the key component of a good health and the secret of success and superiority of minds.” He pointed out that over 500 runners from all walks of life and nationalities as well as families took part in the healthy and enjoyable event.
“The event aims at enhancing awareness on important health concerns such as cancer, with all proceeds going to support the Friends of Cancer Patients charitable society,” Al Kutbi continued; noting that the race, organized by the Abu Dhabi Striders, is an open invitation for all to participate in supporting charity and humanitarian works.
Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, who ranked third in the 10 kilometer run stated at the end of the race: “This is an invitation for all to practice sports. A healthy body can sustain a healthy and productive mind; hence my keenness to step up to the challenge in the longer distance races.”
Concluding, Major General Staff Dr. Obeid Al HiriSalim Al Kutbi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police commended the excellent organization of the event, which is evolving year after year. Then he congratulated the winners and handed them their medals.
