"ADP Officers’ Children Acquainted With Hajj and Umrah Rituals"
(15 October 2013)

In collaboration with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, the Cultural and Social Activities Section of the Clubs Department at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ organized an educational lecture to acquaint students with the Hajj and Umrah rituals. The lecture was attended by more than 150 Abu Dhabi Police Officers’ children. Also present were Colonel ArifSaif Al Shamsi, Head of Sports Clubs and Activities Department, and Colonel Saif Al Shamesi, Chief of the Cultural and Social Activities Section.

Colonel Arif Al Shamsi underscored the need to educate children on the rituals of performing the Hajj and Umrah, an important aspect of the Islamic religion, and one of Islam’s five pillars. This lecture coincides with the blessed occasion, and aims to implant the in students’ hearts one of most important rules of Islam.

For his part, Colonel Saif Al Shamesi stated that the religious lecture on the rituals of performing the Hajj and Umrah was different from other regular lectures. It included both theoretical and practical applications to acquaint officers’ children with the rituals, with a view to instill them in their souls. The event also included a drawing workshop on the theme of Hajj and Umrah rituals; winning drawings were rewarded.

The lecture, which was presented by Dr. Naima Al Gharib, tackled the rituals of performing the Hajj and Umrah, as well as their conditions and etiquette in a simple method commensurate with their age. Children were also acquainted with the four basic pillars of Hajj: the “Ihram”, staying in Arafat, the Tawaf Al Ifada and the Sa’I (walk) between Al-Safa and Al-Marwah, as well as Hajj rules and restrictions. She explained that these four pillars are instrumental in Hajj; if one of the pillars is not performed then everything should be redone whether for Hajj or Umrah. At the end of the lecture, the floor was opened for the officers’ children to submit their questions and inquiries.
To conclude the event, Colonel ArifSaif Al Shamsi honored the officers’ children, as well as the participating entities that took part in this event; the “Absher” initiative voluntary team; the Halima Al Saadiya Elementary and Intermediate schools for girls affiliated to Abu Dhabi Education Council; and Al Manhal School for boys.
