Abu Dhabi Police Increases Traffic Control On External Roads
(15 October 2013)

The Directorate General of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police intensified traffic control on external roads of Abu Dhabi- Al Ghuwaifat, Abu Dhabi-Dubai road, and Abu Dhabi-Al Ain, which witness high-density traffic of families travelling across the country to spend the holidays with their relatives, as well as visitors arriving from neighboring countries to spend Eid Al Adha in the UAE and enjoy its various tourist landmarks. This effort comes in line with the comprehensive traffic plan prepared in pursuance of the Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy to make roads safer.

Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police urged parents and families to keep a watchful eye on their children to protect them against potential traffic-related accidents calling on them to prevent children from playing ball or riding bicycles on the main roads unsupervised. He also stressed the need for concerted efforts from all society segments to make roads safer and accidents-free during Eid Al Adha holidays, so that everyone can enjoy Eid safely.

In pursuance of “Your Safety” campaign, Brigadier Al Harithi warned young motorists from any reckless or uncivilized behavior on the roads using vehicles or motorcycles on public roads as well as car races.

“All roads are monitored by air patrols, road patrols and traffic investigation patrols, with a view to maintain young people’s safety and avoid dangerous stunts and their resulting tragic injuries and losses,” indicated Brigadier Al Harithi. Furthermore, he highlighted the awareness-raising efforts through the Abu Dhabi Traffic program to reduce traffic accidents “Together” on the Internet, Twitter, and Facebook aimed to promote traffic education.
